About

New, on a heritage worth keeping

Kainos (καινός) is Greek for “new”. It's a fresh face and a set of built-in tools on top of Thetis — one of the most capable SDR programs there is.

The project

A fork of Thetis, for the HL2

Kainos is a fork of Thetis, built on the Hermes Lite 2 edition by Reid Campbell, MI0BOT (OpenHPSDR-Thetis). Nearly everything Kainos can do comes from many years of work by the Thetis and OpenHPSDR community.

Kainos adds a modern layout and builds in the tools operators usually run alongside — digital voice, RTTY and CW, spotting, remote receivers and audio processing — so there's less to install and nothing to wire together with virtual cables.

It stays close to upstream: each release is based on a current Thetis version, and anything you know from Thetis still works.
